Legend of Atahri's Pedigree Photo Gallery
Page 1 of 3

The pedigree background of Legend of Atahri's sire, Spirit Chaser, includes some of the finest legacy sires of Thoroughbred racing history. The imported foundation stallion, *Mahmoud, is behind Spirit Chaser's dam (Little Patty).

Legend of Atahri's dam, Echo of Sedona, comes from a line of APHA World Champion horses that have a wide range of performance ability. Sedona's sire, Eternal Echo, has an outstanding and diverse show record.

Sedona's dam, Skippa Star Tami, is 100% Weiscamp bred. In his 60+ years as a breeder, Weiscamp produced horses with a very consistant look and refinement to them. In 1994 Hank Weiscamp was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Association's Hall of Fame at their annual convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

For a deeper look into Legend of Atahri's background see his dam, Echo of Sedona's detailed pedigree notes. Also see his grand-dam, Skippa Star Tami's detailed pedigree notes.

Homozygous Black Tobiano

The only photos we have of Legend of Atahri's sire, Spirit Chaser, are when he is in pasture condition. Unfortunately our friend, Jim Clifton, has passed away and we no longer have access to Chase or any photos of him. He was very sunbleached in the 2002 photos above. The first photo is of Chase as a suckling foal in 1996.

We watched Spirit Chaser's foals for close to 3 years before deciding to use him on our mares. The thing that impressed us with Chase is his ability to produce foals that are so much better than he is. Each year that we went to visit Jim, his pasture was full of bright colored Paint babies. It was a beautful sight. Above are some of the only photos that we have of Spirit Chaser's foals. Since Jim has passed away we no longer have access to additional photos.

*Mahmoud (TB)

Mahmoud is one of the foundation sires behind Affirmed's dam (Won't Tell You). Mahmoud was the most influential horse to stand at the Whitney Stud in Lexington, Kentucky. He also had significance influence on the neighboring stud farm of Greentree. Greentree used Mahmoud to cross on their Tom Fool bred mares and produced many outstanding Thoroughbreds including What A Pleasure (sire of Foolish Pleasure). ["Bloodstock", James Gill (Arco Publishing, 1977)]

Blenheim II (second photo - above) is the sire of Mahmoud. He was the English Derby winner of 1930 and was imported to Claiborne Farm in Lexington, Kentucky in 1936. Blenheim's get included Whirlaway (1941 Triple Crown winner). Blenheim was at the top of the leading sire list in 1941 and died at Claiborne in 1958. Calumet Farm had a 25% share in Blenheim as well.["Bloodstock", James Gill (Arco Publishing, 1977)]
